Collecting a customer list with a locked link

Updated July 26, 2026 · 5 min read · Pro feature

When you put a Subscription lock on a link, the visitor fills in a short form before the content opens; the info they leave lands in the Contacts screen with a source tag. Locks and lead capture are part of the Pro plan. Below we set up, end to end, a coach who locks a package list.

When to add a lock

A lock slows the visitor down; it only pays off when you give something valuable in return. Where it works well: package and price lists, corporate quotes, a workbook or PDF guide. Where it works badly: already-open links like Instagram or a phone number — locking those only lowers clicks.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Add the link. On the Links screen, Add link → from the Custom group pick File or Custom URL. Write the title in the client's language: “Corporate Coaching Packages 2026”. (The File type is an address field: upload the file somewhere and paste its link.)
  2. Open the row. Click the link row; in the inline editor switch to the Lock tab. Locking is a Pro feature.
  3. Choose the rule. Of the four cards, turn on Subscription; choose which details to ask for: Name, Email, Phone, Address. Email is always requested.
  4. Ask for little. Name and Email are usually enough; each extra field weighs the form down and lowers completion.
  5. Save. Close with Save changes at the bottom. On a free account this button becomes Save with Pro and opens the upgrade dialog — locking is part of Pro.
  6. Test it. Open your own page and try the locked row; fill in the form and submit with Subscribe and continue.

You set up other lock types — Access code, Age verification — from the same Lock tab, entering each one's setting (code, minimum age) there.

Tip

Add a short trust note under the title: “Your details are only shared with us.” This single line visibly raises the form completion rate.

What the visitor sees

When a locked link is tapped, a window titled “Locked content” opens in the center of the screen: the fields you chose, a consent checkbox and one button (Subscribe and continue). The button is disabled until the checkbox is ticked; once submitted, the link opens.

Where the info goes

Records are listed on the Contacts screen: Contact (name and email), Phone, Source and the Captured date. Clicking a row opens Contact details on the right — Phone, Source, Captured by, Location, Date and Consent. Export with Download CSV at the top. The Contacts screen and lead capture are on the Pro plan; on a free account you'll see a locked promo card instead.

Frequently asked

Does locking break click counting?
No. Views, clicks and click rate (CTR) appear separately in Analytics.
Can I change the consent text?
Not right now; the consent text is fixed and generic (not tied to a specific law).
Is the date of birth stored?
No. In age verification the date is only used to check whether the threshold is met; it isn't saved.
